About the Author
Saxophonist and flutist Greg Fishman is an accomplished performer, recording artist, author, teacher and clinician. Born in Chicago in 1967, he began playing professionally at age fourteen. An overall invauable tool.

This is a great way to develop knowledege of the fingerboard. Stay in one area of the neck, take a lick, or two back to back, and add anything else you'd like to it. Now repeat the entire line in another location on the neck. I also love that it is broken down to the family of chords to play over, Major, Minor and Dominant. A great number of licks/lines to choose from. I prefer to call them lines as they are very melodic in content which leads you to want to embelish on them to your taste. The slow disk and fast disk are helpful as well. Thanks Greg for this overall invauable tool.

Cool vocabulary of useful licks over standard chord progressions

Very nice collection culled from years of experience. Even an old-dog like me learned a few new hip licks.

One of the best self-study learning tools that I have encountered

This is an outstanding aid for substantially augmenting and enriching your jazz lick vocabulary across a solid range of chord progressions in all keys. The inclusion of the sax versions on CD in the guitar edition is generous, and well thought out the different CD for up-tempo versions. The licks are applicable for soloing, the guide versions are well played, and the backing tracks of high musical quality.

About the Author
Dr. Merle C. Potter holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Michigan Technological University, as well as an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Michigan. Dr. Potter taught for 40 years, including 33 of years at Michigan State University where he taught thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and numerous other courses. Dr. Potter has authored and co-authored 35 textbooks, help books, and engineering exam review books. He has specialized in fluid flow stability and energy research. He has received numerous awards, including the Ford Faculty Scholarship, the Teacher-Scholar Award, the ASME Centennial Award, the MSU Mechanical Engineering Faculty Award, and the James Harry Potter Thermodynamics Gold Medal. Dr. Potter is a member of ASEE, ASME, and the American Academy of Mechanics.

Dr. David C. Wiggert earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan and serves as Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. He was the recipient of the J.C. Stevens Award, ASCE, (1977), the L.F. Moody Award, ASME, (1983), and is a Fellow of ASME (1996). His research experience is in fluid transients and groundwater flows.

Dr. Bassem Ramadan serves as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Kettering University. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Mechanical Engineering and has expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics, combustion, fluid flow analysis and modeling, thermal systems design and modeling, energy conservation and analysis. He is a Fellow of ASME and was the recipient of an "Outstanding Teacher Award", "Distinguished Researcher Award", "Outstanding Applied Researcher Award", and "Outstanding New Researcher Award" from Kettering University. His research experience is in three-dimensional, transient, turbulent, reacting and non-reacting flows. Dr. Ramadan is a member of ASEE, ASME, ACS, and SAE.

Doesn't work in Mac OS X Lion

This doesn't work in Mac OS X Lion. I have a Snow Leopard system and it works fine as it can execute PPC code. But in the new system, it fails. It should be updated for the 3rd edition soon! I'm giving it a 5 stars based on my experience where it works.

Good as a reference

Really not that great. It's very outdated and only provides pretty basic overviews of each topic. That said, the price is great since it's basically an entire textbook saved on the disk. You'l need further explanation for most topics, but as a reference piece, this is a good source.

Gold for those with PD and health professionals!

Even a casual glance at the contents page will tell any reader that this book is gold for anyone with PD, or a health professional involved in the management of PD. It is perfect for the 21st century individual, who is busy with life, doesn't have time to read a long book and needs excellent and meaningful information that is easy to find and immediately put into practice.

It starts off with understanding PD in simple layperson's terms. Then looks at how to maintain energy, promote regular bowel function, incontinence, gives tips on taking drugs more effectively, discusses PD drugs and their effects, healthy eating tips, dealing with weight problems, dental care, addresses chewing or swallowing problems as well as speech and voice projection issues, improving sleep, gives tips for intimacy, suggests ways to improve muscles and movement and hand flexibility as well as feet and walking, covers the many considerations of stress in PD...and the list goes on...travel tips, recipes, what to discuss with your doctor...!

Essential for Anyone with Parkinson's Disease at Any Stage!

This book is essential for anyone with Parkinson's Disease. It provides "Tips" on the many aspects that an individual with Parkinson's Disease faces. There are even humorous illustrations to balance out the serious matter addressed. The book includes areas that some doctors may not address like the importance of the timing of taking L-dopa administration in relation to food (protein competes with L-dopa transport across the blood brain barrier). The "Tips" however are NOT just from a nutritional perspective but covers personal, physiological, and psychological areas amongst others. This book is not a doctor replacement, since medical issues should be individually addressed, and notably "Top Tips" encourages Parkinson's people to be proactive and speak with their physician(s), which is a necessity for best care.
