(GTT) Gone to Texas......

GTT were the initials placed on doors all over the world to let friends and neighbors know where loved ones had gone. Mina and her family left Germany in search of a better life. Read this novel to find out how the early immigrants to the south and west lived. Mina's family faced many grave dangers and hardships once they reached Texas, as well as the tragic loss of loved ones. This story follows the family from Germany, to Galveston, and finally to New Braunfuls in Central Texas, where they will settle and hopefully find happiness. A great story to read along with social studies of early America.

My eight year old daughter loved this book. It has excitement, adventure and we live in the area being written about. I assigned this book as a home school reading project. As a teacher, I felt the book was not well written. The characters were flat, and never developed. Still, the local history parts were interesting. The book is worth a look.

Information good if you are dedicated to change.

Overall, I found the information to be sound but be prepared to head to Whole Foods or a health food store to stock up on items you definitely don't normally have in your pantry. Seeds, specialty flours, etc. They are excellent to bring into your diet without a doubt but I found a complete change in eating habits is required. The recipes are okay but I struggled to prepare and have things ready when I came home from work and it was difficult. His nutritional information is current and definitely valuable but you must prepare yourself for a radical change toward good health. I relied heavily on green smoothies, etc. when I wanted something quick but then had to just dedicate evenings or the weekends to create menus and cook or prepare what I could ahead of time.

I'm a senior and I will say that I definitely felt better after two weeks but it was very hard to keep that lifestyle up so I keep going on/going off, etc. It's definitely worth doing but it's not easy to make that kind of shift. The leg swelling I had ended, I began to sleep better eating complex carbohydrates late in the day rather than protein, etc. He encourages you to have your largest meal mid day and something very light and veggie in the evenings because if you eat protein (meat) late in the evening, once you go to bed, your system has to work hard to digest that protein rather than do the healing and restoration it normally does while sleeping. That is true .... I steamed fresh veggies in the evenings and it worked ... I slept better. I work part-time so it was very hard for me to make a full meal mid-day. I begin work at 12:30pm so I did struggle. That's when preparing ahead of time is needed. Although good, I found it took a great deal of my time but I suppose if you want good health, it is all worth it.

If you can get past the title there's something to be learned here for everyone. Obviously, none of us will live forever. Yet what I discovered in this book are numerous simple steps anyone can take to vastly improve the quality of your health and your life that may end up extending the time you have left here and also greatly improving the quality of that time.

No Alice in Wonderland stuff here. Just hundreds of smart tips on eating better, thinking better, and giving your body what it needs to do the job it was designed to do. All backed up by undeniable proof. Funny thing is, I was introduced to this author by a gentleman who is 10 years my senior, yet looks, acts, and feels, at least 10 years my junior. Thanks to this author I can now do some catching up.

If you choose to act on the information provided here I can guarantee this will prove to be one of the best investments you've ever made in yourself. The information provided is so accurate, so well researched, and so effective, I wouldn't be surprised to see the pharmaceutical industry pressure the FDA into removing this product from the marketplace. Magnificent

(Sigh) David has created a masterpiece of fantasy. Linkershim is magnificently written and continues to build on a quality of life that we as humans would do well to embrace. I cannot say enough encouragement to any person who enjoys fantasy about David's writings and particularly the Stovereign series. Linkershim just sat me on the edge of my seat and captivated me completely. I finished it in about 10 hours. I can hardly wait for the next book.

Family Friendly Fun Reading

I've read all six books in the Sovereign of the Seven Isles serries and I'm impressed. The characters are detailed, believable and involving while the story world is well thoughtout and constructed with a consistency that allows for the easy suspense of disbelief. Admittedly, Mr. Wells is not replicating the complexity of Shakespeare or the enduring timelessness of other classics but I think it fair to say that doesn't seem to be his goal. What he does present is a story that's hopeful, fun, easy to read, and best of all - absolutely clean! Even when he approaches adult subject matter,( such as Alexander's wedding night and the conception of a new fairy) it is handled with delicacy, tact a and moral as a writer. I have no qualms about sharing his work with my teens, or even recommending it for adolescent and younger readers and I find that entirely refreshing!

Wonderful, ACURATE, Kid-Friendly Book!

I bought this for my 15-month-old daughter and it was perfect. She loves the pictures and I love the words! I'm a music teacher so I greatly appreciate the amount of thought put into the rhyme and meter of the book. It's very rhythmically enticing and rolls off the tongue much like nursery-rhymes do. It keeps her attention well.

It's also very Biblically accurate. I've bought other books for my niece and nephew that leave me thinking, "that is NOT how the Bible goes!" (I'm assuming for the sake of not freaking out kids by watering it down) and then I have to give a disclaimer, but this one is spot on. It does tell the story of how Jesus died, but it's a very positive account that I'm sure won't scare my daughter when she's a little older and understands more.

It's also very sturdy. My daughter is somewhat rough with books, but it's a quality board-book that held up to her little teeth and her love of eating books!

I just ordered Thomas Nelson's "Bible for Toddlers" and I'm hoping that it will be just as good quality as this book was. I love this one so much that I'm sure his actual Bible will be wonderful. I most definitely suggest this book for anyone who wants to share the story of Easter with their little one.

Fantastic for Toddlers and Preschoolers Alike

I bought this book for my 2 year old's Easter Basket. I like to remind my children that Easter isn't just about egg hunts and candy, but really about Jesus instead. This book did a great job of explaining everything. It went much more in depth than I anticipated and I really liked that. My toddler loves the handle in the book and is constantly carrying it around. It really is a great little book for little kids. Even my 5 year old enjoyed the story.

Perfect book for teaching the Easter story

The absolute PERFECT book for teaching children the true meaning of Easter. I read this and explained the pictures to my 3 year old son and he can perfectly explain everything that happened in the Easter story. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to teach younger children the meaning of Easter through an easy to understand rhyming story and correlating pictures. But be ready to read this over and overy, my son recommended this book several times a day every day!

Sexy, Sex Scenes.

To Tempt and Angel by Patricia Grasso grabbed my attention from the beginning with its colorful characters and interesting plot. Robert draws me in right away with his charm. He’s obviously a rogue who needs a woman to tame him. Angelica is the perfect mix of hard and soft, and she has a sweet touch of innocence that makes her a great heroine. The mystery of what happened to Angelica’s formerly wealthy, aristocratic family sets the pace for the novel, and piques the reader’s interest right from the start. You want to find out exactly what caused her family’s downfall, and also what exactly her plans for getting even entail. The sexual tension between Robert and Angelica is palpable, and it extends throughout the entire novel. When those two are in a room, you can feel the tension through the pages! The sex scenes are also HOT! HOT! HOT! It’s been awhile since I’ve read a good sex scene, and Ms. Grasso definitely accomplishes that in this book!

I enjoyed reading this book, and the only complaints I have are that the plot is a little out there. Her obsession with getting even with the men who she feels are completely responsible for her father’s downfall is a little annoying at times. I mean, her father was a drunk, so he was partially responsible for his own issues. She chooses to put all the blame on these other wealthy families, and focus on revenge, rather than bringing her family back to what it once was. Also, the fact that all of these men are willing to jump on her crazy train and help her get revenge against families who have never done anything to them is a little strange to me. However, it is fiction, and although her fixation on revenge at times makes her unlikable, overall it is a good read that I definitely recommend to lovers of historical romance.

I give To Tempt and Angel a FOUR out of FIVE stars.

I love Patricia Grasso. One of my all-time favorite reads is by this author (it also happens to be the third book in this trilogy). So when I was in the mood for a historical romance, I decided to reach for a Patricia Grasso book. Imagine my delight when I saw that one that I hadn’t read yet was available as a free read at Amazon.

This series follows the three Douglas sisters. They’re the daughters of an impoverished earl and they’ve grown up far from the Ton doing whatever the needed to do to make ends meet. In To Tempt an Angel, while at street fair, Angelica meets Robert when she cheats Robert out of a good chunk of money and he’s smitten. And so begins our romp through London.

I adored Robert… well, outside of the wanting to make Angelica his mistress instead of marrying her. But, he’s pretty up front about what he wants when it comes to Angelica. Granted he did hide his title from her early on, but when one is chased because of their name. But he supported her from the day they met and just wanted to make her life easier. Who doesn’t want that kind of man? I mean, he doesn’t want to run her life or completely take over. He wants her to be the best she can be, but be there to hold her up if she needs it… and she will.

Now Angelica on the other hand was a little harder for me to like. I did enjoy watching her trying to fit into the Ton after growing up on the outskirts. But I wasn’t real fond of her revenge motives. And while I understand that she was having a hard time trusting Robert after she finds out he has a title (she thought he was a mere “Mr.” when they first meet) and even more so when she learns who his father is, I got a little tired of her pushing him away, then falling into his arms only to push again. It just seemed like she kept trying to find a reason to… almost punish him. She’s not trusting her gut but allowing outside influences to mess with her head. And yes, that’s human. But it was driving me insane and I just wanted to reach through the pages and shake Angelica.

All in all, I did enjoy this book and couldn’t put it down once I got started. Was it perfect? No. But it was a great introduction to the Douglas family and I can’t want to continue the series.

Another wonderful book by the author!! All Angelica has wanted for the past 10 years is revenge on the men who ruined her father. While she is scamming people in a dice game she meets Robert Roy. Unbeknownst to her Robert is the son of one of the men she wants revenge on. A wonderful read that has passion, lies, revenge, twists & turns and finally happiness!!

This Book Is Definitely A Big Deal!

After reading Danni Keane's "Not Letting Go," which features the same characters as this novel, I was very excited to read the continuation, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. Josh's happiest moments are when he's with his boyfriend, Bradley, and with his father's death and his decision not to go to university looming in the background, stress is coming at him from different angles. But it seems like all of that can be pushed to the side when Bradley moves in with him. They become even closer, even having their first time together, but soon Bradley is starting to pull away from Josh's advances, and Josh doesn't understand why. He has to learn that at eighteen, love is more difficult than he thought.

But it's not just about Josh and Bradley navigating a relationship. It's about Josh growing up and learning to deal with the emotional baggage of his dad dying, and the relationship he has with his mom. He doesn't want to acknowledge that things have changed, but they have, and when he finds out the reason Bradley has been getting dodgy with him, it hits close to him and forces him to re-examine everything. The emotions at this book hit hard, both in the ecstatic highs and the depressing lows. Keane marvelously crafts a story where you experience all of Josh's feelings and watch his relationships with his family and his boyfriend evolve.

The characters are vivid and for two young adults, their struggles and emotions are so palpable that I was carried through the entire book on the ride with them. But the issues extend beyond their age, and I think people of many ages could relate to this book.

I absolutely loved this book, and would highly recommend it. I look forward to Keane's future works.

I really enjoyed this quiet little story. Two British teenagers, after the British equivalent of American high school, are trying to figure things out—work, school, family, life, their relationship, each other. (I classify the novel as closer to New Adult than YA because of where they are in their lives and the kinds of things they're dealing with (although they fall into the YA age range).) Josh's dad has recently died, so he and his mum are trying to adjust, and both Josh and Bradley are trying to decide what to do with their lives now (and how to make it work with the other person's plans). It's very much a character-driven story rather than action-driven, but it kept me hooked and I read it quickly. By "character-driven," I don't mean that nothing happens, but we're heavily focused on the guys living their lives and learning how to be in a relationship. There's a lot of real-life stuff in this, and she does that all very well—all of the annoying truths, like how to live with someone, and what to do with the hole in your life after someone dies, and what do you do when the person you love starts pulling away and won't talk to you about it, and how to deal with (or not) being in love for the first time.

Neither of the guys is perfect, but if they were, a) they wouldn't be real teenagers, and b) the story would be boring. We never get into heavy omg-I'm-going-to-die angst, but there's enough drama to keep things lively (and a bit sad).

I really like Danni Keane's writing. Her writing reminds me a bit of Jay Northcote's--easy to read, character-focused, nothing extra or unnecessary. The characters are warm and believable (Josh's sister drove me nuts, but I guess that's what older sisters do). As a note, because I know some people care, this novel is in first person present, which I absolutely love but I know some people don't. But if that's the only thing holding you back from reading it, I recommend giving it a try anyway. It's not obviously written, so you might find you don't mind. :)

There is a prequel to this book, "Not Letting Go," comprising two short stories. While I don't think it's 100% necessary to read it before this, I strongly recommend you do (it's free! and short!)--it gives you good background on what's happening in the book, particularly with Josh, and the author herself recommends reading the prequel first.

No Big Deal was a sweet story with enjoyable characters and contained a plot twist that isn’t seen a lot in M/M.

Josh is a young man who’s had a tough year after dealing with the death of his father. Thankfully, he’s still got his mother and his boyfriend, Bradley. Josh and Bradley were a cute couple for sure, and I liked having the story start with them already together. Their emotions were portrayed well and I could tell they cared for their each other.

At the beginning of the story, Josh and Bradley haven’t had sex yet, though that is quickly remedied when Josh’s mother leaves for the weekend. The sex between the young men was really realistic, in that neither one lasted very long once inside the other. The term ‘minute-men’ came to mind. Perfect.

With any young men there was drama of course and Josh and Bradley have their fair share, including what to do with their lives and where to live. The biggest issue occurred when Bradley began to withdraw and stopped having sex. Josh fears Bradley is cheating on him but that isn’t the case.
The truth is that Bradley has a lump on a testicle and feels awkward about having sex. Josh freaks out since his father died of cancer, but in typical young man fashion, Bradley thinks it’s no big deal. I understood both guy’s stances here and the author excellently depicted their concerns.

There were times I wanted to choke both young men and get them to just calm down and actually talk and listen to each other. However, there aren’t mean 19-year-old men who aren’t obstinate and stubborn-headed. They do eventually open up and everything gets figured out.

The Nature of a Crime, the third of three collaborations between Joseph Conrad and Ford Madox Ford, was originally written when the two men were living in Winchelsea, Sussex, in 1906, but not published in book form until 1924, shortly after Conrad's death. About the Author

Joseph Conrad, (1857-1924) born JOzef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, was a Polish-born English novelist. Most of his works featured a nautical setting and depicted trials of the human spirit by the demands of duty and honor. Before he started writing, Conrad joined the French merchant marines and later joined the British navy. Some of his numerous works include, Heart of Darkness, The Arrow of Gold, The Secret Agent, An Outcast of the Islands, and Lord Jim.

Ford Madox Ford was an English writer and critic, best known for his novel The Good Soldier, considered to be one of the greatest literary works of the 20th century; the Parade s End tetralogy, which was influenced by Ford s military service during the First World War; and The Fifth Queen trilogy, which chronicles the life of Henry VIII s ill-fated wife, Katherine Howard. As a critic, Ford championed new literature and literary experimentation, and his journals, The English Review and The Transatlantic Review, launched the careers of critically acclaimed authors like Thomas Hardy, Joseph Conrad, Henry James, D. H. Lawrence, and Ernest Hemingway. Ford died in 1939 at the age of 65.

Beautifully written tale
